This is too much for me

We celebrated Caleb's 9th birthday a couple of weekends ago. It just doesn't seem possible that he is that old already. But I guess he is. We had his birthday anyway.

Katie helped a friend of her's celebrate her birthday by riding in a limo to go and get ice cream. She then spent the night at the girl's house. Needless to say she was tired the next day.

The lizard is Mr. Snuffleupagus. I have seen bigger ones than this crawling on the side of our house but this is the first time I have troubled myself to go and get the camera to take the picture. He actually fell from the top of the basement door onto the concrete and I thought that the fall might have killed him but in a few minutes, he walked away.

Football and soccer are in full swing now. Between practices and games, we have something going on 6 nights of the week. Is that too much??? I'm not sure. Actually I am sure, I just don't want to admit it. If we are here, we end up watching TV so I am glad that we are out. We do spend a lot of time in the yard playing too but somehow we always end up migrating back to the idiot box. Me included.

Katie scored a goal this past weekend. She is still playing up (U-8 on a U-9) team but the girls are a lot more her skill level this year. I'm expecting great things from her and another girl that plays on her soccer club for the church team. Don't tell Caleb but both of those girls can play circles around him in soccer. Except for goalie. He is a pretty tough stop there.
Coy has spent some time with his grandmothers/grandfathers this past week and will again next week. His school doesn't start until after Labor Day so it makes for some tough times with Stacey's work. He has a blast though but he doesn't sleep well. I think he gets too excited to sleep.

Its Over

I have finally scanned the picture of Stacey and Caleb from the newspaper the day after the triathalon. Caleb had wrecked his bike and didn't finish as well as he had hoped. The timing was all messed up anyway so even if he had not wrecked, we would not have known how he did compared to the others. It doesn't matter though, they finished and did their best. That is all that counts.

Summer break is over. The kids got on the school bus today. They were kind of excited but not excited enough that I have any hopes that it will last all year. They both have friends that are in their classes so that is good.

Soccer is getting ready to be in full swing. I'm looking forward to it but I know that it will be a lot of time too. Luckily, just two teams this year and not three like last year. Katie is "playing up" with the 8 and 9 year old league at Graceland. She actually only misses their cut-off date by a little more than a month so it is not like she is in way over her head.

We Are Family

We had our annual trip to Holiday World on Monday. Lots of other people must have had the same idea. Although the crowds weren't as bad as we have had at other times. But we all had a good time. The bad part was that we had van trouble on the way home and had to call Stacey's parents to come and get us. They took the kids back to their house and then we drove Richard's truck back to Floyds Knobs and got home at 3 in the morning. We would have gotten home sooner if that State Policeman had not been so concerned with my speed. 72 in a 70 Mom, with a warning. : )

Caleb rode the Voyage 4 times and Katie rode it 3 times. The last time, they rode it with their hands up the whole way. I rode it too and that thing was fast. It has been a long time since I rode any roller coaster that size but I think it was just as fast as I remembered the Beast being. And my two oldest kids rode it. Coy rode a lot of things too and he has a blast. He just has a love of life that is unmatched. Even late in the day, after a long day of playing and walking and riding and standing in line, he doesn't whine or complain. He just loves whatever we do.
