An afternoon with my oldest son - $Priceless

Caleb and I went to a U of L basketball game over Christmas break. It was a pretty much no-name opponent and our seats were only a few (a very few) rows from the top of the gym. But that did not stop us from having a good time. Stacey, Katie and Coy all went to the flea market while Caleb and I went to the game. Caleb is already anxious to go back, and so am I. About all that we can afford is the "nosebleed" section but almost all of the seats are good seats in Freedom Hall.
Here is Coy on a play phone that he got for Christmas. One of the funniest things that he still does is pick up any remote and talk into it like it is a telephone. I think he knows that they are not phones but he likes to do it any way. He likes to joke around with us. One of his other favorite tricks to pull is to say "C-O-Y spells Mommy" or "C-O-Y spells Daddy".

Katie had her friend Lindsey over one night. While the adults sat around the table playing a game, Katie and Lindsey had an art project. Notice the green marker on their hands and arms. They are also dressed the same and they fixed their hair the same.
Caleb's basketball team is doing well. A lot of the boys are improving. I am having more fun this year since we are winning a few games. We didn't win a game last year and it was frustrating because some of the boys did not do a good job of listening. However, this year, most of the boys do a much better job of listening. I have some good kids too, and that is helpful.

Here are some of the "FANS IN THE STANDS". Let's face it, watching big brothers basketball game is not the best way to spend a Saturday afternoon but when it means a visit from Grandma and Grandpa, its worth it. At least, that is what they tell me.
Coy continues to really improve on his speech. He is going to speech twice a week and it seems to be beginning to pay off. We have an appointment with the plastic surgeon the week after next to start talking about Coy's surgery. We are sort of a house divided on that issue. We would like to get it over with this summer so that he can heal before he goes back to pre-school next fall. The other part thinks that the surgeon suggested that we wait and let his other scar "heal" before we do another surgery. We are hoping that he will tell us that Coy is ready for his next surgery and he can get us scheduled for sometime in July.
Stacey is preparing to run the Mini-Marathon this year. She got our and ran 6 miles in about 24 degree weather this morning. She is awesome and I am so proud of her. The only thing that I am not looking forward to is getting all of the kids together to go and cheer for her at the finish line. I think that they will probably all be real excited to go and cheer for her, but it will be early on a Saturday morning, that is for sure.

Just wanted to let you know I checked out your latest blog; have not missed one yet and love to see them and keep up at least to some small degree on how things are going at your house. Hope you had a great birthday Saturday; just think you are one year older.

I took Brandon to his first UK football game last year. It was very cool. We went to the edge of the field and watch warmup and got to see the Wildcat. He only lasted one half before he started getting too sleepy. Thinking about getting a Wii, so Caleb will have something to do next time you guys come over.
